Why You Should NEVER Buy Wrapped Cars
We took in a Wrapped Porsche 997 Targa 4S on trade. The previous owner disclosed that the front of the car did have some issues under the wrap, but it was definitely not described as bad as it turned out to be. We also were not aware that the door also needs a repaint. So hiding underneath the wrap is a good amount of paintwork that needs to happen before we can sell the car.

Переглядів 2,7 тис.7 годин тому
Our 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet had a cracked cooling fan that needed to be replaced before we sold it. So Josh removes the old cooling fan and replaces it with a new one. The entire project only took a few hours and required only simple hand tools, but it does take a bit of patience. Why on Earth Would He Want This POS? Josh's New Hoopty
Are they cracked? Or is it the gasket?
Im about to do mine. Plugs and coils. Was told to replace the manifold gasket when I'm doing it. All the videos I've seen no one does that. Any idea?
So are you ok with cars that have whole car PPF?
Video: "The wing on this is 1,776 mm in width...'Murica!" Me: "So...America finally learns how to use the metric system..."
I never even consider wrapped cars. Usually they are all trash maintained and issues
Come on Fred, I was waitin for a “magic lube” reference. SOO disappointed ….😮
Ha!
Nice
Thanks
Floor it
Oh yes
You did a fine job sir. By the way do you think this car was service at a Ferrari dealership? Maybe the mechanics working so many Ferrari that a simple oil drain plug got mixed up with the others or a factory error?
I have no idea
That sounds great!
Thank you
Someone treated that 911 like a Civic. Disgusting both inside and out. My guess is the new engine is because the previous owner thought oil was a lifetime fluid.
Could be
🔉my love❤
Oh yes
Leave the honing tool in the hole or have your plug prepared to go into the hole before removing the honing tool. That tool will keep air in the tire and you want air in the tire to make installing the plug easier
Ah good tip
I just started with the overhead console buttons. I used the VHT Satin Clear and sprayed 4 very light coats. The buttons are still slightly shiny compared to the other buttons in the car. Will adding more coats achieve the correct appearance? Or a matte clear may be better? By the way where in TX are you?
I think maybe you need matte? We're in Liberty Hill
@@normalguysupercar Ok thank you. I'm in Frisco.
Awesome
Thank you
Music 🎶 to my 👂 😊
Heck yeah
sounds like something you would read on Reddit in /r/BoomersBeingIdiots
Lol right?
Dan, does your advice include cars that have been PPF'd? Cheers
No PPF is good as long as it's not super old
@normalguysupercar Okay cool thanks!
This sucks!
Yup
What did you use to plug the line? I usually hear people using golf Tees.
Those can work. We used a proper vacuum cap
Did you end up selling it lol
Yes
Do you have any recommendations for a scan tool that can read a 2001 360 Modena? Trying to replace accumulator and solenoid but find this very difficult without one. Would rather not go to a Leonardo for obvious reasons.
We use the launch x431 amzn.to/3XEfjmk
Do Ferraris get a lot of attention from women like they say?
Not really
Surprised you don’t check it when it’s running like other Porsche’s
Maybe you do, I have no idea
You keep saying “we” but the only guy I see working is you. Lol.
It's Josh and my company so we.
@@normalguysupercar Understood, but it seems you got no help unwrapping the Porsche.
“I tried so hard” Linkin Park cover playing in the background, very fitting lol 😅
Haha
Is there no misrepresentation laws in Texas especially with a trade in?
As is. Nope
Easier to unwrap in the sun.
I'm gonna disagree on the fact that then you're sweating your balls off here in Texas.
@normalguysupercar lol. Yes that is correct. But wrap comes off easier itself.
I feel so bad for that nice 993 in the hands of the person that destroyed this car.
Well, to be fair we don't know if the last owner did all that paint stuff or bought it that way.
@@normalguysupercar Very true he was maybe duped also with a car that looked good wrapped. I do feel like a small percentage of the world wraps cars just to change it up and have a different color and a large percentage of the world is covering stuff up, it is like the vinyl siding of the car world.
just an FYI it's a 997. The 993 ended production in '98, then came the 996, then these.
@@carguy7627 I do know that, I was referring to the 993 that Dan sold the person who owned this 997 and traded it in to buy the 993 that was for sale.
@@roadkillrob6116 ah, makes sense!
That’s a good track car.
It would be fantastic!
I would never have the patience to deal with people misrepresenting cars. Thanks that you guys can .
It's all part of the game. Trust no one.
Bummer!
Yeah.
That’s a beautiful car in black. Why someone would want to wrap it and decrease the value is beyond me. I’ve seen this ad in Australia of a guy trying to sell his wrapped Boxster 981 for 2 years now at the same price as other unwrapped 981s. No wonder it’s been on the market 2 years now no one wants it
Yup! Exactly
always thought this was a convertible lol. but im used to putting the wrangler top up and down, so, no worries
Ah yes.
Helen Keller could have seen this coming!
LOL
I'd be willing to bet that the way and reason why the car was wrapped is a direct reflection of how poorly the car was maintained mechanically.
Eh possibly.
need help washing the cars? let me know
Sure, but we don't really have the ability to pay people so there's that
If i wrapped a car, I would take detailed pictures as it was being put on so if it was sold, so I could show all process. Anyone who doesnt have pics is hiding something.
Well, even if you do, the wrap can damage the paint when being removed.
@@normalguysupercar I didn't think of that. I personally would bever wrap a car myself but repaint. For the cost it doesn't make sense.
that is one beat up 997 New engine probably due to bore score. Is the engine actually new or was a used engine installed?
New.
what's the return on investment on painting vs re-wrapping?
Well, nobody pays more for wraps, and sometimes they are worth more if the paint is in great shape.
I’d be in so much trouble with that car. Is trolling funerals with that exhaust in poor taste. Or outdoor weddings. And now say your vows…. Vrooooooooom lol
LOL!!
Ripping
Heck yeah.
What's the price you're looking for?
$25k as is.
That car is a POS
Actually it's not. It just needs a little love.
The late great Ray Charles can see that is a bad idea.
LOL!
Megan knows what she's talking about! 👍😅
Always.
DONT BUY A SHIT Wrapped car!
Or just any wrapped car but especially shit wrapped.
I'm selling my pristine 458 Spider that I had wrapped. I would hope the average 458 owner would not wrap a POS, but now you have me concerned about my sale.
Honestly it's going to make it much much harder to sell.
Take the wrap off
Have the wrap removed. Unless you're in the UAE or China and it is wrapped gloss gold, few would want it wrapped.
Thanks for the advice. I'm having the wrap removed.
Ppf> wrap every time and like 2% of Ferrari owners want theirs wrapped
Not a fan of wrapping.
Nope.
This goes back to the old advice of don't buy a car with a car bra on it. Not that I've seen one of those for a long time now.
True. Those are pretty uncommon now.
